Lord gave us each a spiritual gift, meant to be used in service
through the body. Whether your service is task or people
oriented, it can make a difference. Each week there are
a variety of ministry opportunities. Your help in any one
of them is important and appreciated. From our youngest
to our most experienced members, service opportunities are available. Volunteer alone or as a team! For

Altar
Care and Communion Preparation |
|
The volunteers in this
area are vital to our weekly worship services.
In the area of altar
care, volunteers help to prepare our altar for designated services.
This is a great way to be involved in the presentation of our service
and to help us to observe our church holidays during worship.
Communion volunteers
prepare communion for designated services. This is a ministry that
happens behind the scenes, yet is a vital part of worship. Communion
was directed by Christ, these volunteers help to make it happen!
Our lay readers share
the word by reading assigned scripture during services. It is a
wonderful personal touch hear the word shared by fellow members. This
ministry reminders us that the word and worship belong to us all.

Helping
Hand Ministry |
| Thank you for all that you do to support
Lutheran Social Ministry. We see many families and individuals
who say, “This is the first time I have had to ask for help and
I am thankful you are here.” If it were not for your financial
support, your food support and your prayer support, we would have
a difficult time meeting the needs of so many people.
We
distribute food boxes Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 to noon
at the Victory Lutheran location and Tuesday/Thursdays, 9 to noon
at the First Lutheran location.
Any members who are unemployed or looking to change jobs, Job Net
is available to them. I schedule appointments Monday-Friday
afternoons at the Victory location. We offer a Networking
group on the first and third Thursdays of the month, which meets
at Love of Christ Lutheran Church from 1:30 to 3 pm. It is
a good time for job seekers to network with others who are looking
for work and perhaps find a listening ear.
We now have a Fitness/Wellness Ministry in the East Valley, which
serves low-income children and the elderly. Doug Cote is the
director of the program. He is looking for volunteers to
work with kids, teaching them to play tennis.
Again,
thank you for all you do to support Lutheran Social Ministry.
Without your prayer support, financial support and your emotional
support we would not be able to serve the families of the East Valley. For more information contact Lee Stadler through the church office.

Meal
Ministry |
|
The
Meal Ministry program is designed to allow members of St Luke to
serve its fellow brothers and sisters in Christ during their time
of need. Volunteers are called upon to provide a meal when the need
arises. Meals are provided for approximately one week. If you would
like to be on the call list, please contact the church office, Leslie
Morton (480-899-5981) or Lisa Lentz (480-354-9572). There is a short
form to complete in order to assist the coordinators in scheduling
meals (available in the church office).
Additionally, if you
recently went through surgery, are recovering from an illness, just
had a child, or just need a helping hand for a short time, then please
contact the church office so the meal ministry coordinators can
arrange for you to receive meals.

Multi-Media |

Computer,
Sound System
The purpose of this ministry is to
help enhance and facilitate weekly worship services and other special
events. Volunteers may use their skills to run either the sound
or projection system. Volunteers that work with our projection
system can be involved in different aspects of its use. Some may
be responsible for the entering and organization of information,
while others may choose to run the system during
worship and other events.
Those interested in assisting with
our Sound system will learn how to run the sound board and be responsible
for it’s use during worship and other events. Both of these systems are utilized
on a regular basis, and volunteers are committed to using technology
to enhance worship. Training workshops occur as needed, contact
the church office to volunteer or for more information.

MUSIC |
|
At St. Luke Lutheran we have many
music opportunities. If you are interested in any of our music
ministries, please contact the Director of Music, Kim
Cramer. |
Nursery |

The St Luke Nursery
Ministry provides a safe, loving environment for children (ages'
birth through four years of age) and parents to utilize during
designated church activities. During
their time in the nursery, children will be offered a secure,
healthy, and clean environment.
We are currently
looking for volunteers (teenagers and adults)
to staff the nursery during the 9:30am Sunday
School and 11 am worship hours. The volunteer nursery staff will be responsible for security as
well as sanitary issue. If
you can volunteer an hour or two per month to care for some VERY
CUTE children, want to share your love and faith with kids and
get lots of hugs in return, please call or email Erin Brooks at 361-3663.
NOTE: Parents are
always welcome to use the nursery when it is not staffed. There
is a diaper changing area, rocking chair, baby swing, and crib.
Help yourself. We simply ask you to tidy up when finished. There
is also a diaper changing area in the women's restroom.

Nursing |
| Parish
Nurse Ministry is defined as the holistic approach to the total
health needs of a congregation for the purpose of achieving optimal
wellness. Holistic means harmony between the person and God.
Optimal wellness is a stat in which the person has achieved the
highest level of physical, mental, and spiritual functioning possible
for them at anytime. It is a lifetime of harmony, and growth
which requires self knowledge, stewardship, support, and acceptance
of God's love. The church emerges as the ideal setting for
the practice of holistic healthcare.
Our mission of Parish
Nursing here at St. Luke is to provide and promote holistic wellness
through prayer, education, support, and care and to be the extension
of Christ's love as He intended.
We provide blood pressure
checks, educational information on health issues, visits to hospitals,
homes, and care centers. We will also make contact with people
by phone and mail.
Office Hours:
Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Blood Pressure Checks:
Third Saturday: 4:14 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.
Third Sunday: 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Outreach
assimilation
| The volunteers in this ministry are a part
of the outreach effort here at St. Luke. Many volunteers
use their gifts to reach out to our church’s visitors. They
provide valuable follow-up contact that encourages visitors
to ask questions as well as come back to future worship services.
They share the welcoming spirit of our church!
Volunteers that
become new member sponsors are vital to helping new members
become assimilated. They become an instant support to new
members as they seek out the opportunities that St. Luke offers.
These volunteers
help to create a welcoming environment for all!

Publicity |

The purpose of this ministry is
to help publicize the various activities and events that take
place at or are supported by St. Luke Lutheran church.
Volunteers in
this area enjoy using their artistic talents and computer skills
to create sources of advertisement. Some may create posters, while
others may create flyer and newsletter announcements. Publicity
may also include photography, website update and email announcements.
Other volunteers would
prefer to interface directly with church members and the community.
They will spend their time running information tables and speaking
with and in front of the congregation.
Publicity volunteers
are crucial in making sure the maximum number of people are aware
of the opportunities offered at St. Luke.

Sunday
Coffee Fellowship |
| The purpose of this ministry
is to prepare and serve refreshments during the time between church
and Sunday School. This is a wonderful time for our church family
to come together for interaction on a personal level. Providing
coffee and doughnuts offers an extra special treat that will draw
people to our fellowship time. As people come together friendships
are made, families get to know one another, and ministry opportunities
are shared. During this half hour, people that don’t come in contact
with each other on a daily basis can catch up, and new members and
visitors are able to meet with long time members. It’s an enjoyable
time to bond as a church family!

Teachers
|

The purpose of our Sunday
School ministry is to share the Lords’ word with our younger members
through Bible education. Our volunteer teachers follow a set curriculum
appropriate to the age of children assigned to their class. This
may include music time, stories, snacks and crafts. Our teachers
are committed to sharing the bible with our youth and are a support
to parents in their children’s Christian education.
Our Vacation
Bible School ministry is planned around the ‘family group’ concept.
VBS teachers will have several groups of families come to their
class each evening. Teachers will plan lessons appropriate for all
ages, based on the current VBS theme. Volunteers in this area support
families as they learn together.

Ushering |

The purpose of our ushering ministry
is to assist our worship leaders in providing a comfortable, smooth-running
service. From handing out bulletins, to collecting offering and
conducting communion, our ushers provide an organized environment
in which to worship. Our ushers are there each Sunday morning
to open the sanctuary doors, and adjust for a comfortable temperature.
They will answer questions, direct visitors, and are there to
safely lock our sanctuary when services are finished. Our ushers
help to make great things happen!

Van Drivers |
The purpose of this ministry is
to provide transportation to people who would otherwise not be
able to attend a Sunday worship service. Volunteers are asked
to arrive at church early to check for messages regarding those
riding that week. Then volunteers follow a set pick-up route to
bring the riders to the designated service*. After the service, the volunteer
returns the riders back to their homes.
We at St. Luke want to make sure
that each individual who wants to attend worship is able to be here.
Therefore we are always looking for volunteers who enjoy helping
others. Currently volunteers drive once approximately every
4 to 5 weeks. For more information about this ministry contact the
church office or Lisa Lentz (480-354-9572).

Visitation |
|
Member Visits, Call Visitors, Homebound
Visitation, Hospital Visitation
The purpose of this
ministry is to serve our members and other individuals that are
hospitalized or homebound.
Our volunteers provide
service in many different ways. A primary goal is to establish relationships
through regular contact.
Volunteers serving in
our hospital ministry would regularly visit patients, offering support,
friendship and prayer. Volunteers would continue to follow up with
the patient until health is restored and the patients needs are
met.
Volunteers serving in
our homebound ministry have a goal of developing a long-term relationship.
Volunteers regularly visit, call, and send cards to their partner.
Building relationships
is a key part of this area of ministry. If you enjoy being with
people, than this ministry may be for you!

Welcoming Ministries |

Ushers,
Greeters, Information Center, Host/Hostesses
The purpose of this
ministry is to create a welcoming environment for members and visitors
coming to worship a St. Luke. Guest book volunteers can direct visitors
into the sanctuary as well as answer questions they may have about
our church and worship services. Guest book volunteers also collect
information about our visitors so that we may offer friendly follow-up
to their visit.
Volunteers taking part
in our greeting ministry create a warm environment by being available
to give a personal greeting to each of our worshippers. Greeters
can also help to direct people when necessary, and assist ushers
with handing out bulletins when needed.
A warm greeting is a
wonderful way to begin a worship service!
